The Confederate Battle Flag
Sept 5, 2001
The Confederate Battle Flag! What a topic nowadays. I don't know where to begin but I think it is a shame things have gotten out of hand with the real meaning of the flag.
First thought-
When you seen a firearm of any kind do you think of it as a murder weapon, hunting instrument, or a historical artifact? The firearm is not dangerous by any means. It is the individual who is using it and for what purpose it is used for.
Second thought-
Do you see the Christian Flag as a symbol of our Savior's suffering or as a racist symbol. I see it as a symbol of our Savior's Suffering so I can gain entrance into his kingdom. I would be scared to death to use it for any symbol other than that. The individuals using it for other reasons should be aware.
Third thought-
When you see the Confederate Battle Flag what do you actually see. I see a time when one group was practicing their rights and freedom to do the exact same thing their forefathers did in the 1770-80s. I see freedom, I see my ancestors fighting for their rights, not the rights of keeping slaves. My God, they were lucking to have food for their own tables let alone feed anybody else.
The Confederate Battle Flag should be able to fly anywhere in the world. It is a symbol of freedom and a very important time in our history that should not be forgotten.
The use of the Flag in cemeteries, battlefields, museums, license plates, courthouses, and if an individual flies it at their home should be permitted by all means.
The Flag that the KKK flies is not the same flag I fly. It comes down to its not the flag but the person who's flying it.
Linda said something in the course of, "these hot shot Texan Cowboys with the flag all over their pick-up trucks." Those hot shots are Southern Boys that may have an ancestor that fought for the cause. We must look at the drivers as
individuals. We must look beyond the license plates.
Last but not least, I believe in totally equality, everybody equal, nobody should have special rights or privileges.
There are times when the Flag issue is being used for personal goals and victories.
